As Death Approaches
Most people in Ireland would prefer to die at home, if at all possible, and this can also be comforting for their family members and carers. However some preparation and planning are required to ensure that necessary care, support and equipment are in place to ensure that this can be a peaceful and dignified final journey for all concerned. Despite the persons's wish to die at home, this may not always be possible. This section identifies how a carer may prepare and support a person dying at home, in hospital or in a residential setting.
