Who is a carer?

crowd scene 2
  • There is no standard picture of a carer.
  • Carers represent people from all ages from the very young to very old.
  • People who care for someone do not always recognise the significance of their role.  Equally some carers feel their role gets over-looked.
  • Caring for someone with a life-limiting illness can be a gradual process or it can happen suddenly.
  • The care can extend over days, weeks or years.
  • You could be providing help for a few hours a week or 24 hours a day.
  • The care that you provide could relate to assistance with personal care, errands, or providing company and support.
  • This website aims to support you in your role.
